Sara Doudji - birch bark insoles

Price

NOK 399.00

Tired of being cold, or do your feet often feel damp? Here is the solution.

The birch bark insole from the small family business Sara Duodji AS in Karasjok is made by hand from birch bark and 100% felted Norwegian wool. These insoles help you retain warmth in everything from shoes to boots and sandals.

With hand-picked birch bark that insulates and Norwegian sheep's wool that absorbs moisture, you get insoles that breathe, absorb moisture and give you double protection against cold and damp. Birch bark does not rot, and if you treat them properly, you will have insoles for a long time.

All the birch bark insoles are handmade, so no two pairs will be exactly alike.

They run a little small.

The birch bark insoles are used and praised by Sami reindeer herders, the Norwegian Armed Forces and the Norwegian hunting community. The insole has also received a top score of 6 in Jakt & Fiske.

Duodji is traditional Sami handicraft and applied art. Duodji describes both the act of creating something and what is made. Duodji largely uses natural materials to make various objects.

The reindeer was widely used in duodji, because the tradition is to use all parts of the animal.

Care: Air and dry the insoles after use, so that the birch bark that has absorbed moisture dries again. Feel free to turn the insoles between uses, so that both sides are used. They must not be dried over heat, such as underfloor heating or by a stove. Since they are made of 100% natural materials, they can shrink with direct heat exposure. Can be hand washed with green soap.
