Sara Doudji - birch bark insoles

Tired of being cold or do you often feel damp on your feet? Here's the solution.

The birch bark insole from the small family business Sara Duodji AS in Karasjok is handmade from birch bark and 100% felted Norwegian wool. These insoles help you get better warmth in everything from shoes to sandals.

With hand-picked birch bark that insulates and wool from Norwegian sheep that absorbs moisture, you get soles that breathe, absorb moisture and give you double protection so you never sweat or feel wet on your feet again. Leather never rots and if you treat them right, you will have soles for a long time.

All birch soles are handmade and therefore no two pairs will be the same.

 A little small in size.

The birch bark soles are used and promoted by reindeer herding Sami, the Norwegian Armed Forces and the Norwegian hunting community (dice roll 6 in Hunting & Fishing).

Duodji is traditional Sami handicraft and art. Duodji describes both the act of creating something and the thing that is made. Duodji largely uses natural materials to make various objects.

Reindeer were widely used for duodji, as the tradition is to use all parts of the animal.

Maintenance; Air and dry the soles after use so that the birch bark that has absorbed moisture dries again. Feel free to turn the soles between uses, so that they are used on both sides. These should not be dried over heat such as heating cables or by the oven. Since these are made of 100% natural materials, they can shrink when exposed to direct heat. Can be washed by hand with green soap.
