TrønderRein was established in 2020 by Ole Marius Bjugan, inspired by traditional outdoor life and especially the Sámi culture.

 

TrønderRein offers traditional products with a focus on outdoor life. Our products have a story, making you feel like you’re paying for more than just an item. With us, you get locally sourced and sustainable products with soul.

 

It all started when we noticed that traditionally dried reindeer hides, used as outdoor bedding, were disappearing from the market. Around 80,000 reindeer are slaughtered in Norway each year. While the meat is distributed worldwide, the hides have become increasingly difficult for slaughterhouses to sell.

 

For us, it’s essential that the whole animal is utilized. When we saw the demand for dried hides made in the traditional way, we founded TrønderRein and began drying all the hides ourselves here in Trøndelag. We have been drying hides since 2016 and have operated on a larger scale with an online store since 2020. Since then, we have gradually expanded our product range with other high-quality, locally sourced products from across Norway.
